My baby is 8 months old and still gets up at least twice a night to nurse. He doesn’t seem to drink much and falls back asleep quickly. Unfortunately, I’m not getting much sleep and having trouble keeping my eyes open in the afternoon. His weight is normal and he’s healthy otherwise. Should I keep letting him nurse? If not, what can I do?
It's definitely a good idea to ditch the nighttime feedings. At this stage, I think that it's more for comfort than anything! Do it sooner than later!!!
It'll be much nicer for the both of you for you to stop the nightly feedings. If he's sleeping in your room, I would just touch or hush him so he knows you're there without actually feeding. If he uses a pacifier, I would just pop that in.
Sounds like you're being used as a pacifier. If he's not drinking at that time, I would just nip it in the bud. You need to sleep, it's just going to get tougher from here as your son gets more active. He's just going to have to learn to self soothe and the longer you put that off, the harder it will be.
