The Life of Mammals

2002–2003

The Life of Mammals documentary series has the unique ability to change the way you see the world. It brings about a different perspective about life on earth and existence. The BBC series follows David Attenborough as he takes you on a tour around the world to learn all about the life of mammals.

How have mammals survived for so long? What makes them thrive even in places that seem unfit for survival? David answers all of your questions and more as he explores mammals from the depths of the caves all the way up to the highest mountaintops.

David puts himself and the crew in risky situations to capture amazing footage for the viewers at home – such as skunks foraging a bat cave, wild cats filmed in a way that had never been done before (nocturnally hunting), getting up close and personal with wild grizzly bears, and discovering the odd creatures that lurk about rain forests to name a few. Attenborough visits tribes and cultures around the globe with different ways of life and belief systems.

Gain an educational view of how others live and compare them to your way of life… Are there similarities? You will learn things about mammals and people that you have never known before and will gain a respect for life.

Born to Be Wild

2011

Born to Be Wild is a fascinating documentary short, released in 2011 about orphaned orangutans and elephants. The film follows Biruté Mary Galdikas in Borneo as she takes in orphaned young orangutans that have been left motherless due to rain forest destruction and Daphne Sheldrick in Kenya who takes in elephants who have lost their mothers to poachers.

They both dedicate their time to these animals and show the world what beautiful creatures they are, their struggles, and their emotions. Though in two very different parts of the world, the two conservationists share the same goal: Return the animals back to the wild where they belong. The film is visually astounding with an up close and personal look at the lives of the animals, their steps to recovery, and a view into what’s in store for their future.

The story captures the loving relationship between humans and animals. These extraordinary women make this documentary memorable and educational with their love and dedication as they save endangered species – one life at a time. Take a walk on the wild side and join these heroic women and their team as they rescue, rehabilitate, and return these amazing animals back into the wild.
