Some kids are introverted, which is a little different than shy. Maybe she just has a rich inner world or a strong imagination that keeps her occupied? Before doing anything, I would first feel her out to see if she's shy and really wants to make friends but is nervous or uncomfortable initiating it, or if it's that the thought doesn't maybe cross her ming because she's busy with her own ideas. If it is that she's try, I think however hard it is for you, you're going to have to be a role model here and show her how to make the first move. Maybe hold her hand and make the move together.

My boys both loved books as babies. I read 1-2 hours to them daily (broken up throughout the day). Some of their favorites at that age were: Little Blue Truck, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear Brown Bear, Apple Pear Orange Bear, Good Dog Carl (no words but I would narrate) and they always loved anything by Richard Scarry because there's so much to pore over.

Not sure where you live but if you're looking for something that's a mix of ballet and dance, my boys have started capoeira and they love it. It's great for her age and such a good workout. It also has a cultural component to it too which the kids appreciate.

My boys loved this place as toddlers. There's tunnels to explore, bee hives, oddball critter cafes and so much to play with outside. Very interactive exhibits.

We went to Dr. Tehrani once and had a good experience. She's extremely professional. The offices are nice and clean. No unnecessary xrays. The children got to pick out DVDs to watch during the exams. Everything was perfect until we got the over the top bill. But I guess you're paying for all the additional bells and whistles.

Huge and gorgeous. Lots to see. I recommend going whale watching first from the dock just outside and then hitting the aquarium if you're looking for a full day event.

Interesting to stop in if you're at the pier but not really worth making the trip to see. Kids always like the touch pools.

Great concept, free museum (donations only), but almost everything needs updating though seeing the Space Shuttle Endeavor is pretty neat.
