These Fairy-Inspired Birthday Parties Are Simply Magical

By Nikki M

If your child is imaginative, full of magic, and feels a strong connection to nature (or let’s be honest – if they just love everything Tinkerbell), they’ll adore a fairy-themed birthday party.

This party works best in a woodland setting, so if you’re lucky enough to have a forest as your backyard, take advantage of it. Otherwise, search for your lushest local park – the greenier, the mossier and the more overgrown, the better. And when it comes to party decor, there’s no need to rush out and buy things you’ll only use once. A true fairy is resourceful – so gather things from nature, mix in what you already have at home, and check out thrift or vintage stores for unique gems.

Here are some of our favorite fairy-inspired celebrations:

This Woodland Fairy Birthday Party planned by The Revelry Co. is absolutely stunning. The party was located on a gorgeous open space near the woods, where towering redwood trees serve as the backdrop.

Themed parties and playing dress-up go hand-in-hand. The birthday girl and her guests felt like real fairies with tulle dresses, flower crowns, glittery wings, and wands.

The kids table was covered with a lace tablecloth and topped with moss and other foliage. We love the creative use of tree stumps for stools.

Here’s a closer look on what’s on top of the table: Pale pink plates, drinks, and blooms; individual-sized cakes; for decor, lots of fairy figurines, mushrooms, and woodland dioramas in glass cases and jars; and finally, a basket full of goodies to take home.

For the dessert table, scour vintage stores for pretty cake stands, dishes, bottles, and other accessories. The more mismatched, the more charming everything looks. Add a touch of whimsy with a sprinkle of flowers and clip-on butterflies.

Speaking of butterflies, this party was full of them – from fluttering wings to nets… and the sweetest cupcake toppers.

An indoor space works beautifully with the theme too – it’s all about bringing in natural elements. Johanna Siren, in collaboration with Smallable (and their products from Numero 74 and Meri Meri), threw her 5 year old the loveliest fairy birthday party.

For a casual and cozy feel, the girls sat on cushions around a low table, which was made with wooden crates and planks. Hanging over them was a lush green garland tied to tall branches. Petals were strewn throughout the room, and potted flowers decorated the corners.

It was all about the pastel details, with a color palette of pale pink, baby blue, and hints of gold. You can see these in the fairy wings and floral headbands, as well as the dinnerware, cutlery... and even the gorgeous towering cake.

For Celina’s Third Birthday, her mom threw her a forest fairy party right in their backyard. Guests enjoyed a day of running around outdoors with their very own fairy wings and wands. Activities included face painting, coloring sheets, and an endless supply of confetti.

They kept the decor simple, with a focus on natural materials and fabrics. The stacked wooden pallets, brown kraft paper table runner, and greenery added to the warm, woodsy feel. For a more relaxed vibe, guests sat on cushy floor pillows.
