About Me | I'm a freelance writer & life hacks junkie. I love to pass on tips that make everyday life just a wee bit easier and enjoyable. |
My Kids | I'm an empty nester! I have two boys and one girl who are flying on their own but frequently stay in touch with the mama bird. |

Instead of a baby shower, how about a Sip and See? It's an open house that happens after the baby is born. Guests sip on adult beverages and/and non-alcoholic ones, nibble on finger foods, see the baby and leave!
Try doing just 10 minutes, 3 times a day. Here's how you can sneak it in: Do squats, counter pushups, crunches, bench dips on the sofa, jumping jacks, walking in place, etc. while dinner is simmering on the stove or when you're watching TV. You can do it! Every minute of activity counts!
Bowls are all the rage now. A mini bowl might be a fun option. Start with brown rice, quinoa and add a green base like kale, spinach or even romaine. Add their favorite veggies, a sauce or dressing they can pour on and some cheese. I often make bowls from dinner leftovers, like taco night.
My firstborn was going to be Zech or Elise. I still like the name Elise - 31 years later.
What are your girls into right now? Could you play up that in a theme? Once you have the theme the rest (decor, food) will be easier to find and not so overwhelming. If you type in "birthday party" in the The Instillery search field it yields some fun ideas also. Have fun!
So many great ideas! I went with an egg bake with bacon, cheese, shredded potatoes and leftover veggies...HIT!

Looking for a one-dish breakfast that will feed 6. Ideally, something I can make a day ahead and pop in the oven Christmas morning. Thanks!
English muffin (whole-wheat) pizzas are so easy and fun! Let the kids make their own. Just spoon on your favorite pizza sauce, sprinkle on your cheese of choice and add toppings (leftover veggies and yes, leftover shredded chicken are great toppings!). Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Serve with carrot sticks and hummus.
